Arc is a communication tool that allows instructors and students to actively collaborate through video and audio media.

Set Up

To add Arc content to your course, first click on the modules tab within Canvas.

Click on the "+" symbol to the right of the module where you are adding the Arc content.

Select "External Tool" from the list of options then click on "Arc".

Now you need to add the media. To do this, click on "Add".

On this screen, you can choose to select the video from your computer or you can paste in the link of a YouTube URL. After uploading the video or pasting the YouTube URL, click on the "Add" button. You can add more video to your uploads if you wish.

Now you need to click on the video that you are wanting to add. To do this, hover your mouse over the video and click on the "Select This" button.

On this screen, you can choose if you wish to have the ability for others to leave comments. You can also select a different video if you happened to choose the wrong one. Once you have selected the right video, click on the "Embed" video.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and give your video a name. A good suggestion is to give it the same name as the video you selected. Click "Add Item" when you are done editing.

You have successfully added an Arc video to your Canvas course.

Adding Comments to a Video

If you wish to add a comment to a video, simply click on the link in Canvas that opens up the video.

The video will now be displayed. If you decide to leave a comment while you are watching the video, simply pause the video, type your comment below in the box, then click on the comment button.

The comment will then be display below in the chat box. Others who view the video will be able to reply to the comment by clicking on the reply button. They can also skip to the time in the video when the comment was posted by click on the time.

You have successfully commented on an Arc video.
