VoiceThread provides a different way to engage with a presentation. It allows people to navigate slides and leave comments in 5 ways - using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam).
Navigate to VoiceThread through Canvas
You want to enter the Voicethread website through Canvas in order to be sure you are using your Voicethread account that is associated with your BYU-Idaho login. You can do this through any Voicethread activity you've already added to your course. In the example above, we're using a non-graded Voicethread homepage that has been added to the course modules. (If you have not already added a Voicethread link to your course, you'll want to do that first (How Do I Setup a Graded VoiceThread Activity in Canvas? Or Setting Up Non-Graded Activities with Canvas and VoiceThread)
- Navigate to Modules
- Click on the Voicethread page you've added to the course.
Voicethread Home
- Click the menu icon.
- Click "Go to VT Home"
Create
Click on "Create".

Media Type
These are the options that you can choose from. You can add media from your computer, record media on the spot, or paste URL links. For this tutorial we will use the URL option.
Paste the link then click "Save".
Enter a name for the presentation. You may also add a description. Next, click "Playback Options".
Here you can edit the options provided for your presentation. When you have finished modifying the options click on "Cover Art".
Here you can add a cover art for the presentation. To do this, click "Upload cover art", select the picture from your computer, then click "Save". If you do not wish to add cover art, just click "Save" without adding a picture.
