If a student calls in needing to change information on their profile (i.e. marital status, name, birthdate, etc.) Please follow the steps below:
Note: We no longer need to contact Student Records and Registration to make these changes.
Have the student sign in to my.byui.edu
On the main homepage, direct the student to the drop down bar that says "More." Within the drop down bar that appears, select "Profile."
They will then be directed to their student profile.
Under the "User Profile" section, they can change their name, Social Security Number, Marital Status, or Birth Date by selecting the "Request Change" button.
After selecting the "Request Change" button, they will be redirected to the following pages:
Select the reason for the change next.
Have them fill out the info requested on the page that pops up and then select "Next."
After the student dictates what their new name is the student will have to upload a picture of their Social Security card. BYU-I requires the name change match the name on the Social Security card.
Lastly, the student will confirm that all the information is correct. Below their information will be the image of the Social Security card. Then, have them click "Finished." This will submit their name change request.
Social Security Number
Student will be prompted to upload a photo of their new Social Security card/number; then hit "Next."
The student will then need to confirm the information and select "Finish."
Student will first be asked if their spouse also attends or has attended BYU-I or Ricks college. If yes, they will be asked if they would like to update their spouse's information too.
If the student selects to also change the information for their spouse they will see this pop-up. They will need to select "OK" to continue.
Student will need to fill out all the information and select "Create & Print Form". They will then hit "Next" to continue.
Student will then be required to upload their Change in Marital Status Form and Marriage License or Temple Certification. They will be shown a sample and will need to hit "Next" in order to submit their own documents.
Lastly, the student will confirm that all the information is correct before selecting "Finish."
If the student chooses to only up date their information they will first select their desired Martial Status Change
Next, they will need to Upload their Marriage License.
Lastly, they will need to confirm their information is correct. They will need to select "Finish" to submit their request.
If the students spouse is a non-student they will have the option to create an account for them.
Student will need to fill out the required information and select "Create & Print Form" before continuing.
They will then need to upload pictures of the requested "Create Non-Student Spouse Account" and "Marriage License" Forms. They will first be shown a sample then asked to upload their own images.
Lastly, they will confirm their information is correct before selecting "Finished."
If the student chooses not to create an account for their non-student spouse, they will follow the normal process for changing their Marital Status, starting with requesting their desired status change.
Next, they will upload the required documents.
Lastly, they will confirm their information is correct and then select "Finished."
First, the student will be prompted to update their birth date.
Student will then need to upload a picture of either their Birth Certificate, Driver's License, or Passport.
Lastly, they will confirm all the information is correct and select "Finish" to submit their request.
